Places to visit in Braj

Mathura

Mathura is located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Famous as the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna, Mathura holds immense religious significance in Hinduism. Mathura is the main part of Braj Dham, which is associated with the presence of Shri Krishna and many of his leelas and stories. Mathura has many temples of Shri Krishna, which are associated with his life.

Vrindavan

The name of the place surrounded by devotion, devotees, and temples near Mathura is Vrindavan. Vrindavan is the place where the name Radhe Radhe is heard echoing in every street. Countless temples and thousands of Krishna devotees are seen in every corner of Vrindavan. Away from the temptations of the world, people are seen engaged in praising the name of their beloved 

Gokul

Gokul is located on the other side of the river Yamuna near Mathura. Gokul is a religious place where Lord Shri Krishna spent his childhood. After the birth of Shri Krishna, his father Vasudev saved him from King Kansa and escaped from Kansa’s prison at midnight, crossed the Yamuna River, and took him to Maa Yashoda and Nandbaba’s house in Gokul.

Nandgaon

Nandgaon is a major place in the Braj region, and a trip to Braj is incomplete without visiting Nandgaon. Nandgaon is associated with Lord Krishna’s childhood and is the place where Nandababa’s house was and where Krishna lived. After the age of 11, Nandababa left Gokul and came to live in Nandgaon to save Shri Krishna from the atrocities of Kansa.

Barsana

Barsana, a small town in Braj, is famous as the birthplace of Radha Ji, the beloved of Lord Shri Krishna. Barsana has great significance in Braj. It is believed that after visiting all the Krishna temples built in Braj, if Radha Rani is not seen, then something remains incomplete. Barsana is a place closely associated with the divine love of Radha and Krishna.

Govardhan

Govardhan is a holy place in Braj, and this place is known for Govardhan Mountain. Govardhan mountain is the mountain that Lord Shri Krishna lifted on his little finger to save all the Braj residents from the wrath of Indra’s heavy rain. Govardhan has a great religious significance in Hinduism, and by the grace of Giriraj Maharaj, Govardhan is one of the most revered areas.
