The Mudiya Purnima 2025 Mela is celebrated with great pomp and show in Govardhan every year since 1556, for about 469 years. During the Mela of Mudiya Purnima, lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad come to Govardhan and do the 21 km parikrama of Shri Giriraj Maharaj in Govardhan. The story behind the Mudiya Purnima Mela
The story behind the Mudiya Purnima Mela is something like this: Goswami ji of the Vaishnav religion used to live in Vrindavan, later Swami ji came to live in Govardhan near Chakleshwar temple and Manasi Ganga. Goswami ji used to do parikrama of Shri Giriraj ji daily, and then came to his place and used to do bhajan.
After some time, Goswami ji’s health was not good, then he made some places of Giriraj ji in the ashram itself and used to do parikrama of them, keeping in mind that he is doing parikrama of Giriraj. In this way, he used to do parikrama and bhajan meditation in his daily routine.
Goswami ji died in the year 1556 and it was the day of Vyas Purnima, then his disciples made this day special after the death of their Guru and all the disciples shaved their heads and did the parikrama of Giriraj Ji Maharaj and since then this Purnima came to be known as Mudiya Purnima 2025 or Mudia Puno.
Since then, every year the Mudia Purnima Mela is held in Shri Dham Govardhan, and the circumambulation of Shri Giriraj Ji is done. Even today, on the day of Mudiya Purnima, Goswami Ji’s disciples follow their tradition by getting their heads shaved and doing the parikrama of Giriraj Ji Maharaj.

Mudiya Puno is on Thursday, 10th July 2025, the grand Mudiya Puno mela in Govardhan will run for 7 days from 4th July to 11th July 2025. Preparations for the Mudiya Purnima 2025 mela are going on in full swing, and all the arrangements will be ensured before the fair begins. The administration is working hard for this, and all the arrangements run smoothly so that the devotees coming to the Mudiya Puno do not face any problems.
Every year, the administration arranges for additional vehicles in the entire Braj region for the devotees coming to the Mudiya Puno fair. Additional bus services have started to go to Govardhan from Mathura, which include government and private buses.
